Living outside the box

I can still clearly remember what our lives were like 19 years ago when we took our first tentative step outside the box, and away from “normal”. We began testing the waters of alternative medicine after some health issues for which we felt Western Medicine was not providing the answer.

It can be a lonely path to follow at first when all the people you know and love question you for looking for something different. Why? Why can’t you just be happy with what we know, what is comfortable. They don’t understand what’s outside the box that they grew up in, that their families have been involved in for generations, and they just don’t “get” why you are looking for something else.

In our journey, we have known a great deal of joy and personal satisfaction and it is this that keeps us working and learning every single day to find more ways to be of benefit to others.

We have met lots of people who are seekers like us and everyone has their own story. Some people look for an alternative because, like us, the system couldn’t help them, some have been or seen the side effects of poisons in their environment, and others have turned away from processed, highly chemical food because they have looked into the side effects of the toxins in their food and they don’t want that for themselves or their family.

For whatever reason you are on this journey ‘outside the box’, please know that you are not alone. Your family and friends might not support you, might even think you’re a little crazy, but there are many people like you, who have been doing this for a long time. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel, just find the right information and support group.

Like our family, I’m sure you will find things to challenge you along your journey and issues will come up that you will need to think about and research, that you would never have considered when you started. The more you start to question, the more you find to question and the further outside the ‘box’ you become.

These are some of the issues we’ve tackled in the last 17 years:

  • What do I use to clean my house, my self, my family?
  • What can I use to kill insects?
  • How can I grow my vegetables without chemicals?
  • How do I get rid of the weeds without chemicals?
  • Are my personal products poisonous – makeup, aluminium based deodorant, skin care products?
  • What’s safe to buy from the supermarket?
  • What do all the food additives mean/do?
  • What am I going to do about health issues for me, my family and my pets?

There are so many things to consider, but please don’t try to do them all in one day. There will usually be something that stands out as specifically bothering you. That would be a good place to start. You might begin by buying organic or biodynamic food or growing your own, so you know what is in the food you are eating.   You can prepare and cook more of your own food rather than purchasing processed or ready-made products.   As much as possible, stop using chemicals and look for alternatives for your cleaning and personal care. Find a natural health provider and be proactive with your health.

One way to get away from many of the additives in food and the cosmetics is to look at the ingredient lists on what you use now.   A good rule of thumb is that if you don’t know what it is, or you cannot pronounce the word, then it’s probably chemically man made and may not be healthy. There is a great reference guide called the Chemical Maze which was a real eye opener for us and we use it to check every additive that we are considering using on or putting in our bodies.

We are all so busy. Make your changes gradually and one issue at a time.

Recently on the Sunrise breakfast program they said that the average person will be exposed to 200 chemicals before they leave home in the morning. That’s astounding and very scary. It’s a very toxic time in the evolution of the human race.

Our Family

For us, our big issue was health. Seventeen years ago, I was struggling with Post Natal Depression after the birth of our first child and the doctors just wanted to give me anti-depressants. That was not where I wanted to go and they had nothing else to offer me. A family member suggested we try Homeopathy. We’d never heard of it but felt it was worth investigating. It wasn’t a magic bullet but it did get me space to cope better and put us on a path to make some life changing decisions.

Our Family owned and run business

In our business we help people and animals every day with their health issues and also to be proactive with their health. When Homeopathy was implemented over 250 years ago, they didn’t have chemical loads like we do today. People also did not travel and share bacterias to new parts of the world like we do today. Viruses are being supercharged by chemicals such as antibiotics and man-made bacteria and viruses are set loose on us at random.

We now have generations of people so overloaded with inherited and accumulated load – toxins, bacteria, chemicals, viruses, etcetera, that they can barely cope on a daily basis.

The result is very obvious and everywhere – cancer, depression, suicide, rage, apathy, autism spectrum, ADHD, ADD, behaviour, growth and learning difficulties and it goes on.

Our healing work is about identifying this load and where this load is affecting the internal functions and natural healing processes of the body. Then using energy remedies we can clear the load/toxins and stimulate the body back into proper function.   Once the body is running properly again it can deal with day to day issues quickly and efficiently. Stresses can be dealt with rationally without everything becoming a drama.

Whether you come to us, find a Homeopath, Naturopath, Acupuncturist, or other therapist; find someone you trust to help you with you and your family’s health, including your pets. This step is an important part of beginning your natural lifestyle change, along with cutting out chemical use, and eating “clean” food without toxins.

We wish you all the best on your journey outside the box. If you feel we may have answers to questions, even if it’s just an ear to listen or guidance to finding more, please feel free to contact us.

Love and blessings
