Treating OCD in a dog

Atlas was diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and heavy suppressive medication was prescribed.  His owner Liz is a client of ours but didn’t immediately consider us for treating Atlas.  Another client and friend of Liz’s suggested we were worth trying in this complicated issue with Atlas.

Here is Liz’s email after running Atlas’s first healing plan:

Atlas & I went for a walk today.

Walking since he was 6 months old has been on a black dog training halter & he is 4yrs on 6th November 2011.

A normal walk consisted of Atlas grabbing at the lead to take in his mouth at every street crossing or cars passing us, head on a constant swivel, sideways, backwards etc. grabbing grass mouthfuls as we walked, then coming home to stop him running is obsessive compulsive circles, jumping at a non existant spot on the ground & then running more circles, so I used to crate him for 1/2hr to calm him before he was allowed back in the yard.

Today was AMAZING.

Halter on him, but lead of 20cm from handle to tip of clip was on his FLAT COLLAR. After about 20 mins into a 45min walk, I took the halter off his head. Atlas only grabbed the lead ONCE at the beginning of the walk & made eye contact & let go of the lead, I did not even have time to signal him to let go, he did it on his own.

I have to say he was watchful, but not head on a FAST SWIVEL as was ‘normal’ before, there was NO fast swivel, yes he looked from side to side & every so often checked behind us.

At one stage I dropped the lead to put a poo bag in a bin & before that would have been enough for him to TAKE OFF running circles on me, but this time we KEPT eye contact & he just stood next to me & never moved —- YIPPPPPPEEEEEEE.

We walked in rain mizzle, no rain & it was just BEAUTIFUL.

He also used to grab mouthfuls of grass as we walked, this only happened twice & then only ONE blade of grass. I noticed he moved closer to me when cars came past us & was so CALM — cars have always been a ‘stresser’ for Atlas.

Treats on the walk, I still have FINGERS, he was GENTLE — that is a FIRST, I have always had a crocodile teeth cattle dog, but NOT TODAY —- MORE YIPPPPPEEEEEEES.

We came home & today I did the ‘unthinkable’, we went straight out into the yard, I unclipped the lead, & offered a treat, which was taken, he had a drink & picked up a toy to play, ate more treats, —— there was NO stress RUNNING, no CIRCLING, I had a CALM dog — again I have NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE.

WOW, I am amazed & pleased & so so super happy. I have a different, calmer, more snuggly cuddly, loving dog — thank you so very very much.

Healing itchy skin on dogs

When I contacted Cathy I had exhausted every avenue to cure my 6 year old foxy Novas consistent itch from his ears to his toes! this itch developed over 3-4 years and just became uncontrollable, he was so distressed and unhappy. The only solution the vet offered was cortisone for life, this wasn’t an option for me because of its horrific side effects, that’s when I found Cathy. After 6 long and sometimes distressing months ( for both Nova and me) of following Cathy’s healing plans and advice we are finally itch free. I have my happy little foxy back, he is thinner, happier, his coat shines and he also smells better. Cathy was there every step of the way with advice and reassurance answering my emails within minutes.

When you think you want to give up, keep going because every moment and cent spent is so worth it in the end. Nova and I Thank you sincerely.

As you can imagine we get inquiries almost daily about healing itchy bodies – dogs, horses, cats, guinea pigs and of course people.  I won’t go into exhaustive detail about itch as I have done that on another page.  Click here to read that page.  What I would like to mention here is that sometimes we can clear itch conditions with very basic remedies – give the body a good detox and clear up the skin.  If the itch has been there for a long period then more specific treatment will be required.  Remember the itch didn’t arrive overnight.  Sometimes the itch can be around for years and one remedy is not going to cut it for a long term healing.  Please just keep in mind that it took time to get to where you are now and although we can heal it in a quicker time, it will take time.

Nova had a combination of The Itchy Pet Kit treatments and healing plans.  If you want to see what is the best treatment for your itchy body then drop us an email at healwithease@bigpond.com with some background and we will guide you from there.

Healing Bailey after removal of a cancerous tumour

I came to Heal with Ease in a rather different way.  I had been researching a different diet for our best buddy Bailley following a diagnosis of a fatty lipoma located on his ribs.  This had come a few short months after a cancerous tumour had to be removed which surrounded his jugular.  A very stressful time for us and we wanted to do the best we could for Bailley.  Our aim was to find a diet that removed all processed foods and would support him in his recoveries and assist his body in fighting off future problems.

When I found Cathy we found so much more, a wealth of knowledge with such caring and compassion.  I believe that Cathy not only healed Bailley but also me, she helped me understand what was happening and how I could work with Bailley’s healing.  During Bailley’s healing plans he developed a lump on his leg around the joint. Cathy was there for us when I had so many questions and trying to decide what our next step would be, through tears and early morning emails.  Cathy supported my decision to involve our vet for a non-invasive biopsy.  Cathy assured me the lump was not cancer, something I was so very scared of.  The results came back as a fatty lipoma our vet was recommending that we continue to observe the lump and consider surgery if the lump grew.

Its been three months now and we have completed another healing plan for Bailley. He is really well, he has a natural diet combining both raw and cooked food, we no longer give him worming tablets but rather use the remedies we received from Cathy once a fortnight.  We continue to monitor his lumps and bumps and they have changed but not grown.  His coat, skin and eyes are looking wonderful and the vet cannot say enough about how healthy he looks. I have used the kit not only for Bailley during times of stress but have also used it for myself, it is a valuable resource which I go to first.  It was quite funny recently when I was feeling a little unwell I asked my husband to look at the kit and find a remedy for my sore tummy, he came back with one of the remedies and followed instructions perfectly proceeding to put a drop on my nose.  I have to report it did work but it may have been more comfortable under my tongue.

I cannot thank Cathy enough for what she has done for our family I think we would of been looking at a very different situation had we not found her when we did.

Kelpie with Kennel Cough

Mac the Kelpie comes down with Kennel Cough

I’ve just sent through an order for some more remedies, but just wanted to send you a little note to thank you for the HWE tonic. My 8mo kelpie pup was exposed to a friend’s dog with a strong kennel cough. When I was told a few days later, I noticed he was snorting like a piggy, so I started the HWE drops and it went in a day or so. He then went away to a woman to be looked after for 4 days as I had to go interstate, who wasn’t able to give him the drops, so when he came back he had it again, quite badly, so I started on the HWE drops again, and it went in a day and a half. Very happy customer.

Healing a sick lamb called Ray

This testimonial is from one of our existing clients who took it into her heart to care for this dear little lamb called Ray.  When someone is so passionate about saving a little animal like Ray we are there for them and pray that a good outcome is achieved.  In every occasion like this we gain learnings – whether that miracles are possible, that others are compassionate to your plight, maybe even that not all animals can be saved, maybe something else.

This is about Ray the Lamb from Narelle F., Nth NSW.

Towards the end of September one of our Suffolk sheep delivered what seemed to be a healthy lamb and the mother was left to “do her thing” with the licking/bonding and getting lamb on its feet. An hour later it was discovered the lamb had extreme breathing problems. We consulted a vet who assured us the problem was not pneumonia, but gave us preventative medication. At times Lamb’s breathing was improved, but within five minutes he would be heaving from his poor little flanks to his open mouth.

I consulted Cathy re possible homeopathy treatment that she could recommend, knowing that the symptoms I described were obscure. Cathy showed genuine empathy and concern for the little lamb, but also for my own emotional turmoil in attempting to help the lamb breathe. Cathy instructed me on which of my homeopathy remedies to use and was happy for me to consult with her morning and night on progress being made. After seven days good progress had been made – though there were still relapses. At fourteen days Lamb was putting on weight and relapses were small. By twenty days I was able to tell Cathy that Lamb was completely well and was “leader of the gang” of other lambs.

I was not only impressed with Cathy’s professionalism and skill as a homeopath, but just as much, the genuine heart-warming feeling she demonstrated in assisting me to care for the lamb to a rewarding outcome. Cathy had no hesitation in interrupting her busy life to help. Ray Lamb (three months old) is pictured with his mother.

Our Black Hen

I found our black hen all by herself hiding under the wisteria bush, when we were having our constant wet weather recently (March 2010).  Her comb was very floppy and she looked unwell.  So I decided to pick her up to get her to a dryer place.  I must have put pressure on her crop when I picked her up as a large amount of liquid came out of her beak.  Now I knew she was very unwell!  I decided to ring Cathy and see if anything in my HWE kits could help.  Luckily I had a remedy on hand to give her straight away, and Cathy also sent another single remedy in the mail that day for me to give as soon as it arrived.

sarahs-chicken

Two days later she was still with us but not eating, and only opening her eyes when I went very close to her and made a loud noise.  Cathy suggested another HWE remedy that I had at home.

A few days later I then decided to get the black hen out of her pen, as she didn’t look like she was moving around.  She caught sight of the other chooks and to my surprise she decided to join the group and instantly started scratching around!  I was amazed as she had shown no interest in eating up until now.  I decided to let her stay with the group.  She seemed to spend half the day sleeping in the hen house and the other half out with the hens.  Each day she was sleeping less and less, and spending more times out with the others.

She slowly got over her illness, which I originally thought she would have had no hope of surviving considering the poor state she was in!  Thanks again Cathy for your help and guidance.  The remedies were was to give as I simply dribbled onto her beak and she stayed relaxed and took them well.

Bringing home a new budgerigar

My daughter had been wanting a budgie for a pet of her own, and had saved her money hard and waited a long time.  So off to the shops with her Christmas money to find the perfect blue boy budgie.  In the pet shop amongst all the flapping of excited wings my daughter selected her “Sonic”.  We carred the shoe box carefully home and then placed him in a well prepared quiet area for him to settle in.

sarahs-budgie

Well “Sonic” wasn’t happy at all, he stayed on the floor of his cage, shaking, closing his eyes and he had diarrhea.  Things were not going to plan!  We hoped that after a quiet night he may be OK, but he was still the same the next morning.  I rang the pet store and they explained that it can take a while for a budgie to settle in.  Well a budgie is not going to take being in this state for too long!  They suggested that we bring him back in for some antibiotics – I also knew that this would probably just do him in- with more stress!

So, a phone call to Cathy, and she suggested the “Stress Relief Remedy” which I had at home.  Well, within an hour he chirped his first chirp, and started to move around on the bottom of the cage.  The next day another remedy, and after that he was eating his seed and climbed up onto his perch.  One normal happy budgie finally.

Sonic now enjoys coming out of his cage at least once daily, he helps with the afternoon homework, and plays in the dolls house regularly.  He is a confident, happy and very cute dear friend to my daughter.  Thanks Cathy!

Ebonee had Cushings Disease

‘Heal with Ease’ – our saviours !

Thank you sooooo much for saving my 12yr old Flat Coated Retriever ‘Ebonee’ who is my baby and the love of my life.

beauiful-ebonee-040506_sml

It all started back in January 2009 when a lump was discovered on her stomach which turned out to be a malignant ‘mammary gland cancer’.  This was removed during surgery and during her recovery after surgery, it was noticed her hair wasn’t growing back where they had shaved her for surgery.  After surgery and of course with her age, she also became more lethargic, started drinking more water, urinating more etc.  More and more tests determined she then had ‘Cushings Disease’ but to determine which gland was causing the Cushings Disease (to determine which treatment she would go on), she then underwent an ultrasound (where of course she had to be sedated).

So we went to Sydney for the routine ultrasound to determine which gland was causing her Cushings Disease, turned out to be the saddest day of my life.  I was informed she now had a small mass on her liver and she would need further major surgery.

Upon consulting with my vet who then consulted with a ‘Cushings Disease Specialist’ in WA, this specialist suggested the ‘Cushings Disease’ could be causing the ‘mass on the liver’ and so we went ahead and started treating her for the Cushings with 0.5ml of ‘Trilostane’ every morning.

We’ve had numerous blood and urine tests to check the right dosage of ‘Trilostane’ is correctly treating the Cushings and she started to pick up, less lethargic, hair started to grow back and started to generally get back to her old self (well close to anyway given her age).

But after a few months, she started going downhill again, lethargic, gone off her food (not a good sign for a Retriever who was VERY food motivated).  Heaps of dandruff started appearing (she only used to get that in the show / obedience ring when she became stressed) and she’s loosing her hair in clumps.  I have another good vet who does Chiropractor / laser acupuncture work on all my 3 elderly dogs (to help with their arthritis).  He thoroughly checked her over including her heart.  Heart sounded fine however, her pulse was extremely slow to push out the blood to her body.  So now she’s not only on ‘Trilostane’ for Cushings but is also on 2.5mg ‘Vetmedin’ to help the heart.

Although we are trying everything to make her comfortable, my instincts were telling me that the original mass on the liver is cancer and is causing all her symptoms (her littermate sister recently died of cancer) and most Flatcoated Retriever’s die of cancer.  So we went back to the Vet who did ‘blood liver enzymes’ test and sure enough, her liver enzymes are high which suggests cancer in the liver.  The only true way to diagnose this is to put her under again for more ultrasounds which I don’t want to do given her age and I don’t want to push her and cause her more stress.  My vet knows how I feel and is suggesting I put her on some type of ‘Hills Science Diet – Liver Diet’ to help the Liver.  She’s also suggesting I find some homoeopathy remedy to help as well.

Obviously, I don’t wish to go down the road of ultrasounds, chemotherapy, radiotherapy as she’s already nearly 12yrs old – Flatcoat’s average lifespan is 8-12yrs anyway and I want to make her as comfortable as possible with no stress to see out her final time.  She’s not in any pain that we can tell at this stage as she’s still wagging her tail and still wanting to go for walks (although they are slow).

Ebonee then went off her food for 5 days – she was dying and vets were at a loss of what to do and told me to expect the worst.  I rang Cathy out of desperation in September 2009.

Cathy suggested I take Ebonee off the ‘Trilostane’ medication immediately, start giving her the ‘poison’ remedy until I could receive Cathy’s ‘healing plan for Ebonee’.  Within days, Ebonee started to eat again – yah.  Then it was onwards and upwards from there with Cathy’s healing plans.

It’s now April 2010 and although Ebonee is 12yrs old and going strong.  I’ve got my girl back again – YIPPEE – thank you once again Cathy, I would have lost her for sure without you.

Kind regards

Dogs with Conjunctivitis

Healing Pepsi’s conjunctivitis

Pepsi is a Hairless Chinese Crested dog, who is now 9 months old.pepsi-1110

From 7 months old, he had very ‘junky’ eyes.

We went to the vet & were given Optimmune, Ophthalmic ointment (extremely expensive, obscene amount of money for a small tube) & Systane eye drops.

After using this for approx 4 weeks, with NO changes at all to Pepsi’s eyes, I contacted Cathy & Eric of Heal with Ease to ask for HELP.

Cathy recommended that I use from the Beginners kit, No.4 bottle for 2 days, then No.6 bottle for 2 days, which I did. When I used this treatment, I totally STOPPED the vets treatment.

I told my husband to expect Pepsi’s eyes to get a lot worse, before they got better & this definitely happened, the junk was pumping out of his eyes, we were cleaning them up to 8 times a day.

Now 4 weeks later, there has been NO JUNK out of Pepsi’s eyes for about a week.

This is the best his eyes have looked in over 2 months.

At the same time, the bad pimple out break that Pepsi was also experiencing, on his neck & back, has also cleared up by 95% & won’t be long before it is fully gone.

I cannot say thank you enough for the help & immediate response from Cathy & Eric.

No more bad skin for Sharnie

We had been working with Desley and Sharnie, Desley’s beautiful Maltese for quite a while and sometimes her skin would be good, but mostly she was itching, red and sore.  The usual itch treatment just didn’t work on Sharnie.  There was something deeper that needed to be released.

Desley was very understanding and said that although it obviously worked for others, Sharnie was just a ‘tough case’.  We suggest Desley run a Personalised Healing Program with Sharnie to really get to the bottom of the problems.

This was Desley’s email after she had finished Sharnies’ Personalised treatment and also following are the before and after photos:

My girls are great and they have been out in the yard with a big lamb bone and thoroughly enjoying them. Neither have done this or been interested for a long time.   When my son Luke arrived the other day and I opened the front door Mitzie took off and tried to run down the street so Sharnie thought this was also an opportunity for her to follow so were in chase of two naughty girls. I just love to see them so bright.

The other dog that Desley refers to in her email is Mitzie.  We have been working on Mitzie’s general good health as she has been diagnosed with a heart condition for which she is on a lot of medication.  Desley is giving her daily doses of HWE Tonic to build and maintain her immune system and keep her bright and happy.
